Amy Adams in full Amy Lou Adams (born August 20 1974 in Aviano Italy) American actress, especially noted for her critically-acclaimed performance of charming and naive characters. Adams was the youngest of seven children who lived as a young child in Colorado's Castle Rock. Her birth was during the time that her father was employed by the U.S. Military in Italy. The mid-1990s saw her begin performing professionally and dancing with the Boulder Dinner Theatre and the Country Dinner Playhouse in Colorado. Then she moved to Minnesota where she was scouted for Drop Dead Gorgeous, a mock documentarian film about beauty contests. Her debut as a screen actress was the bright, beautiful contestant. Then, she relocated in Los Angeles in order to explore a career as an actor. From June 1951 until September 22, 1962 she was engaged to actor Tony Curtis. She is also the mother of Kelly Curtis & Jamie Lee Curtis. Discovered by actress Norma Shearer Leigh secured a contract with MGM and began her career in film in the 1940s. The actress portrayed Norma in several popular films throughout time, including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho which was released in 1960 as well as Living It Up, a Martin and Lewis film released in 1954.
